Jerry Maier, District 2
Jerry Maier farms in Wright County, where he raises corn and soybeans. He has been farming for over 40 years. He incorporates different farming practices like minimum-till to no-till, cover crops and different water quality practices on his farm. He also runs a demolition, tiling and grain bin moving business.
Jerry serves as the Iowa Corn Promotion Board Director representing District 2 and on the Industrial Usage and U.S. Production Committee.
Jerry has been actively involved in the Wright County Corn Growers Association for almost 43 years and has previously served as District 2 Director on the Iowa Corn Growers Association and Iowa Corn Promotion Board. He also served as vice chair of the Iowa Corn Research and Business Development Committee, chair of the Iowa Corn Usage and Production Committee and member of the Animal Ag and Environment Committee. He also served on the National Corn Food, Feed and Industrial Action Committee, U.S. Grains Council Innovation and Sustainability and Asia Advisory Teams and American’s Cultivation Corridor Board. He is also a member of the Iowa Farm Bureau and has served on the NRCS Board for 3 years.
Outside of agriculture Jerry has also served as president of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a church council member. He was part of the Eagle Grove Community Development Board for 20 years and served terms as president and vice president. He is the past chairman of the Wright County Board of Adjustment and Co-chair of the City of Eagle Grove Planning and Zoning Commission.
Jerry and his wife Susan have two sons Brett and Brandon who are involved in the operation.
