Darin Proffit, District 7
Darin Proffit farms in Page County raising corn and soybeans. He currently works with a farm family, who has been willing to adopt and try new technologies and practices such as split nitrogen, short-stature corn, pushing early planting windows and helped bring aerially applied cover crops to the operation. Through this experience he shares that he has learned a lot and will continue to grow his knowledge to implement the best and new practices.
Darin shares that although he does not come from a farming background, he is currently fully immersed in agriculture and brings a different perspective to the table. He also works as a seed salesman and prior to that he helped manage an aerial application company.
Darin serves as the Iowa Corn Promotion Board Director representing District 7 and on the Research & Business Development Committee.
For the past four years, Darin served as the President of the Fremont/Page County Corn Growers and for two terms as the Iowa Corn District 7 Committee Chairman where he spent the last year visiting with all of the county associations getting to know them and the activities they support. He is an active member of both the Iowa Corn Grower Association and the Iowa Soybean Association.
He is ready to engage on the issues facing corn growers while continuing to be a positive voice for the corn industry.
