Eligibility for the ICGA and ICPB Director Elections
The Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) is comprised of 12 peer-elected farmers and two industry liaisons that serve as the collective voice for 7,000 corn farmer members, lobbying on agricultural issues at the state and federal level. Elections are held each year to select leadership and representatives from each of the nine crop reporting districts in the state.
The Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB) is comprised of 12 peer-elected farmers and four ex officios who invest funds collected through the Iowa corn checkoff program, with a focus on market development, education and research. Elections are held each year to select leadership and representatives from each of the nine crop reporting districts in the state.
To be an eligible candidate you must produce and market at least 250 bushels of corn and must reside within the district. Note that there is no rule about the size of your operation or your previous experience. Iowa Corn needs growers of all types, women and men, young and old, big and small operations, because Iowa Corn represent ALL corn farmers in Iowa.

Those elected as ICGA Directors will continue to bring grassroots policy issues forward and be the collective voice for the nearly 7,000 corn farmer-members, lobbying on agricultural issues at the state and federal level.
ICGA Election Timeline
April 9: Deadline for candidate names, district nominating committee forms and candidate bios are due to the Iowa Corn office.
Week of May 27: Mailing of ballots and biographies to ICGA membership.
July 9: Ballots must be postmarked on or before July 9.
Iowa Corn Promotion Board: Crop Reporting Districts 2, 4, 8 and 9
Since 1978, Iowa corn farmers have elected their peers to serve on the ICPB to oversee the investment of funds generated by the Iowa corn checkoff. ICPB Directors will continue to promote a thriving Iowa corn industry through research into new and value-added corn uses, domestic and foreign market development and providing education about corn and corn products.
ICPB Election Timeline
March 28: Petitions will be available by request from the Iowa Corn office. Candidates who fill out petitions must also fill out the affidavit candidacy document.
April 9: Deadline for candidate names, district nominating committee forms and candidate bios are due to the Iowa Corn office.
April 24: All petitions for nominations are due to the Iowa Corn office by 4:30 pm.
May 22: Absentee ballots available for mailing.
June 17: Deadline for requesting absentee ballots.
July 9: Elections held at local county extension offices. Absentee ballots must be postmarked on or before July 9.
