October Stand Up with Stan
By: Stan Nelson
Stan Nelson is a farmer from Middletown, Iowa, and currently serves as the Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB) President.
As a pillar of the Iowa Corn Checkoff, education holds immense value to corn farmers. And with my wife Martha’s career in education, I understand the importance of knowledge and its impact on our society. That’s why I know, the investment in the Iowa Corn Promotion Board Education Center at the Iowa State University Kent Feed Mill and Grain Science Complex reflects our commitment to fostering growth and innovation in the agricultural industry, specifically for livestock feed.
Livestock has consistently consumed around 700 million bushels of corn and corn products, such as distillers grains. The new feed mill and grain science facility at ISU will serve as a hub for exploring the latest advancements in feed technology along with classroom space to expand their expertise and participate in coursework and hands-on training. Through this facility, we can showcase the diverse utilization of corn in all forms – including feed. Ultimately strengthening Iowa’s capabilities and expertise while attracting international feed ingredient buyers and enhancing global demand for Iowa’s corn farmers.
The Iowa Corn Checkoff education investments are focused on reaching audiences to provide a better understanding about corn and the farmers that grow it.
Thank you,
Stan Nelson
